While the team has not reached its full potential, there have been no signs that the two stars don’t like playing with each other.
Wade confirmed that recently when discussing his future with the Bulls. The three-time NBA champion could opt to leave in free agency at the end of this season, and his decision apparently hinges on one big factor: Jimmy Butler.
One of the main reasons I’m here is Jimmy,” Wade said Wednesday. “He’s the one who called me and got me to come here. So that’s a big part of my decision and everything else, is what Jimmy’s doing, what his future looks like and all that.”

It’s interesting to hear that Butler’s recruiting played a bigger factor than anything else in Wade’s decision. It was assumed by many that Wade wanted to join the Bulls to play for his hometown team, or to spite Pat Riley, whichever you prefer.
Regardless, this isn’t likely to affect the Bulls’ plans in regards to Butler. Any plan without their star player in it certainly does not include Wade either. Even if the Bulls went the other direction and opted to build around Butler, they would still likely be saying goodbye to Wade before long.
While it would be nice to see Wade and Butler ride together for one more year and try to find a better result than this season has offered, it might be best for all parties if the former Miami Heat star left for greener pastures this summer. The Bulls’ road back to contention is a long one, and it is hard to see how Wade factors in.
