The Chicago Bulls and the Oklahoma City Thunder are two teams in similar positions.
The Bull have Jimmy Butler and the Thunder have Russell Westbrook, each franchise defining players that every team seeks out. But they both sit at the seventh seed in their respective conferences, their rosters lacking in talent around their star player.
Now, they are discussing a trade that could send the teams in different directions. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Thunder and Bulls are discussing a trade involving Bulls forwards Doug McDermott and Taj Gibson.

Gibson is a long-tenured Bull who could definitely help the Thunder in a playoff series. McDermott is a young shooter who has had a disappointing few years in Chicago.
It’s unclear what OKC is looking for in return, but Woj also reported that the Thunder are gauging how expensive it will be to re-sign guard Andre Roberson. If that contract proves to be too expensive, they could be looking to move him.
