Pau Gasol is an unrestricted free agent this summer and it looks like he could be on his way out of the Chicago Bulls. His brother, Marc Gasol, has been pressing him to join the San Antonio Spurs out in the west:
For what the franchise represents, by the way they work, how they treat their players, their winning culture: no matter what they follow a defined course and do not change.
— Marc Gasol per News 4 San Antonio
Pau Gasol joining the Spurs would give San Antonio another veteran presence, but do they really need another low post scorer after they just got LaMarcus Aldridge, last year? The frontcourt would be extremely crowded.
With the way the Golden State Warriors have been playing, low-post scoring has seemed to be less effective against a small ball team. Signing Gasol would only make sense if Tim Duncan was retiring or they were planning to trade Aldridge.
For the Bulls, letting Gasol leave is a popular opinion, but if Joakim Noah also leaves, they will have an extremely weak frontcourt. The Bulls should really aim to retain at least one of their centers.
